Resources for the rest of us - let's make a living!
You can advertise in the newspaper classifieds under yard sales:
tell time and date of the sale and a bit about what you have.
YARD SALE
8:00am until 1:00pm Saturday the 21st
Plenty of bargains: toys, tools, collectibles, 21" color TV, much more.
124 Bargain Street cancelled if rains.
You will need SIGNS to attract attention and direct buyers to your sale.
Many die hard yard salers cruise the streets and look for signs.
Others will see ads in the paper and map out a route watching for signs.
If your sign catches their eye you have another potential sale.
Make your SIGN a BRIGHT color. PRINT as LARGE as you can
with as few words as possible get the message across.
People who read the sign will be driving down the road.
They MUST be able to SEE and READ while DRIVING.
Once you get their attention use same color sign to direct them
This way they know they are still going to the same place.
They will start coming early.
Have the prices marked on each item.
Have plenty of quarters and dollar bills.
Have everything clean and displayed well.
Have signs out before 7:00am and be ready for customers.
People are reluctant to ask prices and you could miss a sale. Price the item for a yard sale rather than a retail outlet. People are looking for bagains and you want to sell them some! Online auctions are good places to find things to sell at flea markets, and even to turn around and resell them on another online auction.
